St. Joseph the Worker Job Networking Club

About the Job Networking Club

Who We Are

PictureClub Founder Maureen Chemsak makes a point of keeping yourself focused on your individual job search to ensure a successful one at a Club Weekly Meeting
St. Joseph The Worker Job Networking Club meets each Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Central Time in the Church Hall of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758 (meetings are not held during weeks that have a major holiday). We are a non-denominational club – the Church hosts our meetings and provides the coffee!  All Club Services are free to all - no cost to any job seeker or any employer seeking to advertise their positions via our Google Group.

The Club was founded by volunteers in 2009 and has had over 4000+ participants since then. There is absolutely no cost to join or participate in the Job Networking Club since it is managed and staffed by volunteers. Volunteers are experienced Business Coaches, Mentors, Managers, and Business Owners, who are dedicated to assisting current job seekers find appropriate job positions.

The Club volunteers stress the art of Networking to assist job seekers in obtaining the leads to jobs that are never posted to company web sites and advertisements (almost 60 to 80% of job positions filled nationwide are found in this manner). We call this the "Hidden Job Market".

We operate a Google Group (of 1700+ local job seekers) that provides members with almost daily e-mail leads of local North Alabama Job announcements of all types, from retail to rocket scientists, and all in between type positions.

We have weekly meetings that host guest speakers who provide a 30-minute presentation on subjects of interest to job seekers - including How to Network; Résumé Writing; Interviewing Skills; Social Media use in the job search; Federal Job Applications; Dress for Success; etc..

At many meetings some local business HR managers attend in search of job candidates and encourage applications. Many Company HR representatives come to the Church Office and look through our updated Résumé book for potential candidates.

ExperiencePLUS Group - A group of Club Members that meet from 2 - 3 PM after the Job Club meetings to discuss job search age discrimination issues and how to handle them.
